Nurdan Karakus is a Legal Assistant at the Law Office of James L. Riotto and joined the firm in 2021.
In 2021, Nurdan graduated from Nazareth College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. Prior to attending Nazareth, Nurdan graduated from Monroe Community College in 2018 with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.
Nurdan is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, which has provided her with an in-depth understanding of the legal system, criminal behavior, and law enforcement practices. This academic foundation complements her role as a legal assistant, where Nurdan applies her knowledge to assist in case preparation, legal research, and client support. Nurdan’s studies help her navigate complex legal documents, understand case law, and anticipate the strategies used by prosecutors, all of which are critical in supporting our defense team’s efforts to advocate for our clients.
Additionally, Nurdan has extensive work experience in the health care field which invaluable to our clients with cases alleging drug and alcohol use. She has worked with a diverse group of citizens in our community and brings a special understanding of unique issues facing different backgrounds and cultures.
Her skills are especially beneficial to clients charged with traffic infractions, misdemeanors and felonies. She is fluent in English and Turkish and is an integral part of our staff.
Nurdan is a licensed New York State Notary Public.
